What is commercial grade dedication?

Quite often, equipment for nuclear facilities must be purchased from companies that do not have a Nuclear Quality Assurance Program (NQA-1). In order for a company to ensure the equipment meets the nuclear quality level, a process called Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) needs to be performed.

Columbia Energy has been assisting companies in Commercial Grade Dedication for numerous years. We have the knowledge, procedures, and expertise to conduct surveys and inspections in order to verify whether or not the equipment meets NQA-1 standards. In addition, we understand how the equipment needs to be qualified in order to meet the NQA-1 standards.

We recently performed CGD qualification on specialized equipment for the Hanford Tank Farms known as a Rotary Union.
